Keywords: Computer architecture, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), Control Logic Unit (CLU).Abstract
This research aims to examine computer architecture, especially in the organizational aspects of computer systems and the Central Processing Unit (CPU). This research explores main variables such as hardware and software levels, the multilayered machine concept, as well as important
components in the CPU, including the Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) and Control Logic Unit (CLU). The method used is a literature study from sources related to computer architecture and an in-depth description of the evolution of processors, starting from 8080 to 80486. The research results show that modern computer architecture consists of several layers, where the hardware layer supports software operations in a structured manner. The CPU, as the main processing center, consists of components
that support arithmetic, logic and control calculations. This discussion shows the important role of processor evolution in increasing computing efficiency and speed. In conclusion, developments in computer architecture lead to increased complexity and efficiency, with the CPU at the core of
computer system operations
