Publication Ethics
The editorial team of the Education and Information Technologies (EIT) journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and to ensuring the integrity of all published content. We adhere to the guidelines and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The following principles apply to authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers:
1. Duties of Authors
1.1 Originality and Plagiarism
-
Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published elsewhere. Proper acknowledgment and citation of sources must be made.
-
Submitting plagiarized content is strictly prohibited.
1.2 Authorship Criteria
-
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the study’s design, execution, or interpretation.
-
All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately.
1.3 Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submissions
-
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
-
Submitting a previously published work without proper acknowledgment is unethical.
1.4 Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
-
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence their research.
1.5 Data Accuracy and Retention
-
Authors must present accurate data and be prepared to provide raw data for editorial review if required.
2. Duties of Editors
2.1 Fair Play
-
Manuscripts must be evaluated solely on their academic merit without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or political affiliations.
2.2 Confidentiality
-
Editors must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, or the publisher.
2.3 Publication Decisions
-
The editor-in-chief is responsible for deciding which articles are published based on their relevance, originality, and contribution to the field.
2.4 Conflict of Interest
-
Editors must recuse themselves from processing manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest.
3. Duties of Reviewers
3.1 Confidentiality
-
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents.
3.2 Objectivity
-
Reviews should be conducted objectively and provide clear, constructive feedback.
3.3 Timeliness
-
Reviewers must inform the editorial team if they are unable to review a manuscript within the specified time frame.
3.4 Acknowledgment of Sources
-
Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited by the authors and report any substantial similarity to other manuscripts.
4. Duties of the Publisher
4.1 Publication Standards
-
The publisher ensures that all published articles meet ethical standards.
4.2 Correction of Errors
-
The publisher is responsible for making corrections, retractions, or clarifications when necessary.
5. Ethical Misconduct
-
Allegations of misconduct will be investigated thoroughly in accordance with COPE guidelines. Proven cases of misconduct will result in retraction or correction of the affected manuscript.
By adhering to these guidelines, EIT seeks to foster a culture of integrity and academic excellence in publishing. For further inquiries about publication ethics, please contact the editorial office.
